Welcome to the University of Warwick Chorus!

Spring Term 2012!

Messages from our amazing conductors:

Friday 13th 2012

Happy New Year and Happy Verdi Requiem, to the University of Warwick Chorus!

This looks to be a VERY exciting term! Great to see so many familiar and new faces at rehearsal last night - and what a good rehearsal it was! think this performance of Verdi's Requiem shall be rather marvellous! Hurrah! So, to recap, in the first rehearsal we looked at the Agnus Dei, the first part of the Dies Irae and the opening movement of the Requiem.

Get listening, start practising, and most importantly keeeeeeep singing!

Lucy Griffiths

BE INSPIRED!

Come along for the chance to sing a great variety of fantastic repertoire. This term we will be singing one of the greatest of all choral classics, Mendelssohn's ELIJAH, and will be performing this work on Sunday the 4th of December in the Butterworth Hall. Please click here to see Youtube videos of what the pieces sound like and for uploaded learning tools.

COME AND SING!

It doesn't matter if you have experience of singing in a choir, or if you have only ever sung in the privacy of your shower! We have members of all abilities so even if you are completely new to singing you will soon pick it up from listening to more experienced members. We rehearse on Thursday evenings, usually from 7 - 9.30pm in the Arts Centre Conference Room, so please do come and join us. A full list of rehearsal times can be found on the Calendar page or alternatively you can download a file of the schedule here.

JOIN US!

To join Chorus you will need to come along during one of our of registration sessions and collect a copy of the music for the term. Registration will be on Thursday 6th and Thursday 13th October from 5-7pm in the reception area of the Rootes Social building. You will need £15 either cash or cheque as a score deposit, which we will return to you when you leave Chorus providing you always hand your music back at the end of term. Then come to the Conference Room in the Arts Centre and find a seat, the exec will help you if you don't know what part to sing.

A little bit about us

We are the largest Music Centre Society at the University and regularly put on performances with 150 - 250 singers. We perform various types of choral music from Brahms to Beethoven, Haydn to Handel and Mozart to Mahler. For a list of everything we've performed since 1983 view our previous concerts page!

Chorus Concert (63026 bytes)

Our membership comprises of students and staff from the university, as well as a large number of people from the wider community who come and sing with us because they enjoy it so much.  We perform three concerts a year and anyone can join at the start of each term.  We also go on tour once every two years - most recently we went to the Netherlands during March 2010. For more information about the Chorus see our 'Info' section.
